Conservative fat augmentation
Adds selected volume using your own harvested fat.
- What to consider
- Discuss realistic retained volume, donor-site limits and the injection plane. More volume is not automatically appropriate.
PROPORTION & A PARTICULAR SAFETY DISCUSSION
A Brazilian butt lift combines fat harvesting with buttock augmentation. It deserves a careful discussion of realistic volume, donor-site contour and the specific safety measures required for gluteal fat grafting.
Discuss Your OptionsIndependent guidance. Expertise suited to you.

START WITH YOUR GOALS
A Brazilian butt lift, or BBL, transfers fat from selected donor areas to add buttock volume and alter proportions. The surrounding liposuction can change the silhouette too; both parts belong in the plan.
Despite its name, it is not the same as removing loose skin in a surgical buttock lift. Some transferred fat is absorbed, and retention varies. Cellulite, skin laxity and natural asymmetry may remain.
Assessment considers donor fat, recipient tissues, skin quality, desired volume and overall health. A very lean person may not have suitable donor tissue. An ambitious size request can exceed what can responsibly be planned. Discuss nicotine, medications, clot history and the implications of a long journey after surgery.
JUDGMENT MATTERS
Relevant expertise includes current gluteal fat-grafting safety practice and direct surgical oversight. Ask who performs the critical portions, how ultrasound is used and how postoperative concerns are handled for international patients. A high-volume sales operation is not evidence of thoughtful case selection.
Understand the surgeon’s experience with the specific demands of your case.
The plan should explain alternatives, realistic limitations and the care surrounding surgery.
PLAN FOR THE ACTUAL PROCEDURE
Your stay and return journey should allow for the care your surgeon recommends.
EARLY CARE
Both donor and recipient sites can swell and bruise. The team should explain garments, wound care and how to avoid pressure on the grafted areas while maintaining appropriate movement. Arrange help with everyday tasks.
AS YOU RECOVER
Sitting, sleeping and return to exercise require specific instructions. Early fullness includes swelling and does not show the retained volume. Do not assume a pillow alone makes prolonged sitting or a flight appropriate.
THAILAND & HOME
The journey home needs particular planning because sitting restrictions and clot risk can complicate travel. Agree on local follow-up, fitness to fly and an emergency pathway before committing. Chest pain, shortness of breath or sudden collapse require urgent emergency care.
AN INFORMED DECISION
Fat embolism can be fatal. Other risks include bleeding, infection, anesthetic complications, blood clots, fluid-management problems and complications of donor-site liposuction. Fat necrosis, oil cysts, uneven volume, altered sensation and persistent pain may occur. Further surgery may be required.
This is not a complete list. Your treating surgeon should discuss your individual risks, the alternatives to surgery and which symptoms need urgent medical attention.
COMPARE THE FULL PLAN
The donor areas, transfer plan, operating time, ultrasound use, anesthesia, facility and postoperative care affect cost. Compare the safety arrangements and direct clinical oversight before financial differences. Clarify extended-stay and unexpected-treatment costs as part of the decision.
Confirm who provides anesthesia, where the operation takes place, the follow-up arrangements and how unexpected treatment costs are handled.
No. BBL adds fat and changes volume; a surgical skin lift removes or repositions loose tissue. Skin excess may remain after fat transfer.
No. Real-time ultrasound and subcutaneous placement are recommended safety measures, but no safeguard makes the procedure risk-free. The residual serious risk belongs in informed consent.
